However, you don’t need to give up the convenience of an oven to make great food. A slow cooker can be used to make many types of food, and they are great for people who are busy.
How to cook a pork shoulder
A pork shoulder roast is a part of the shoulder of pork that is bigger than an ordinary shoulder. It is the cut that contains both the upper arm and the neck. This is a large portion of pork that has lots of fat and other meaty parts. The ideal size for this cut is one that is about 4 inches wide and 5 inches long. You can cook a pork shoulder roast using any method of cooking that will work for your desired end result. Because the pork shoulder has a lot of fat, you want to cook it low and slow in a moist environment, like in a crock pot. Here are some steps to follow: Pour 1 cup of apple juice into the crock pot. Put a pork shoulder roast on top of the juice. Add 2 cups of apples or water to the bottom of the crock pot. Cover the pot and cook on low for 6 hours. Remove the lid from the crock pot for the last 30 minutes of the cooking time. Let the pork roast sit for about 15 minutes before slicing or serving. To check if the pork roast is done, try slicing the roast. The meat should be soft, but not falling apart. The meat will continue to cook a little bit after the cooking time is done, so allow the pork roast to sit for about 30 minutes before serving.
