Preheat Your Oven Before Baking Salmon

There is an important step you should do before baking salmon. This is preheating your oven. To do this, simply follow these steps. Remove the salmon from the freezer and place the fish on a piece of parchment paper. Bake the fish for about 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. If you notice the skin has gotten crispy, remove the fish from the oven and place the fish on a damp paper towel. Return the fish to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes. Remove the fish from the oven and place on a clean piece of parchment paper. Remove the parchment paper and garnish the top of the salmon with fresh dill.

Prepare a Canned Salmon

This method requires no defrosting and uses the already prepared can. The salmon still needs to be cleaned and cooked, but these steps are the easiest and most commonly done first. Using a knife, remove the salmon meat from the skin and discard. Then remove the bones and flake the meat with your fingers. You should discard any skin, as it doesn’t have much flavor. Rinse the salmon with cold water and then pat it dry. Take out the salmon skin and press out any liquid. Take a metal or plastic bowl and cover it with a lid. This is your can.

How To Bake Salmon

With the water-bath technique, the salmon is put into a water-filled container. The temperature inside the container will gradually rise over time, and the salmon will cook. The salmon can be cooked for 20-30 minutes, or until the center is still slightly pink and the outer layers of the salmon are opaque. This method is best used for very thin pieces of salmon, like filets or thin steaks, or thick pieces of salmon like the belly. If you want to use this method to cook salmon steaks, you will need to cut the steaks in half, so that the inside of the salmon cooks faster. For thick pieces of salmon like steaks, place the steaks skin side down in the water-bath and cook for 20 minutes. For thinner pieces of salmon, place the salmon skin side up in the water-bath and cook for 20 minutes.
