The Australian blue-ringed octopus, a New Guinean species of the genus Hemiurus, measures more than 80 millimeters long. Not only is it larger than any other member of the species, but it has a long, strange proboscis-like structure that resembles a grappling hook.
As if that isn’t enough to make this octopus stand out in the sea, the creature has also developed a behavior where it pretends to be a shrimp to attract mates.
