With all the snow and cold weather lately, it’s been a great chance to cook up some delicious homemade pizza. And if you’re looking to do something out of the ordinary, you might try air frying french bread pizza instead. The next time you find yourself without any baking supplies, try this unique cooking method to put an exciting spin on your favorite pizza.
Why Is It Called Air Fried?
Air frying is a form of cooking that uses air instead of heat to cook the food. This is usually done in the oven or even on the stovetop. The bread is placed on a baking sheet or pan and then sprayed with an oil mixture, often referred to as an “air fryer.” The bread is then baked in the oven at a much lower temperature than traditional ovens. Air frying has several advantages over traditional oven cooking, including convenience, speed, and ease of cleaning.
The Benefits of Air Fry
To air fry french bread pizza, you’ll need a deep fryer or an oven, a pizza stone, and a pizza cutter or serrated knife. Use the pizza stone to hold the bread when you’re cutting it. Put the dough in a frying basket and place the basket in the oil. If your deep fryer has a temperature gauge, set it to 400 degrees F. Cook the pizza for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Air Fry vs. Deep Fry
Air frying uses a cooking medium such as steam to heat food instead of cooking with oil. Because of this, it’s also known as steam or water-based frying. The food is cooked at temperatures of 400°F or below. Food cooked this way will not be greasy or have the smell of frying. However, this method of cooking is not typically used for bread. Rather, it’s more commonly used to prepare vegetables, meats, and some fish. Deep-frying uses hot oil or shortening, which cooks the food at a temperature above 400°F. Deep-fried foods typically have a greasy flavor and are very crisp. They’re usually done in smaller, narrower pans than their air fry counterparts, which makes them more prone to burning. Deep-frying is commonly used for bread and potatoes. Air frying is often the healthier option when it comes to cooking bread. It uses less oil than deep frying and results in a healthier, tastier, and chewier crust.
How to Air Fry?
In the popular 1980’s cartoon/comedy series “Home Improvement”, the family tried their hand at a restaurant called the Air Fryer. It was a popular place in their hometown where you can now get Air Fried Pizzas or French Toast. A popular news story in 2002 reported that Air Fryer sales had increased by 50% per year. That’s a pretty good trend! In fact, some experts believe that Air Fried French Bread is actually healthier than regular bread. Air Fried bread was created by accident, when the batter stuck to the pan, and was fried up with the bread. Originally, the French bread was just the batter, but now, it’s sold as a specialty item.
Slicing and Shaping
The first step in making air fried pizza is to slice the bread. This can be done by using a pizza cutter or a large bread knife. You can also use a pastry cutter for this step. After the bread is sliced, you’ll need to shape the bread. This is typically done by hand, but you can also use a rolling pin. It is important to make sure the dough is cooked through, but not hard. Air fried pizza dough should have a few air pockets, but not too many.
