What’s in a Shot?
A shot of liquor contains about 35-40% alcohol by volume. A shot of rum is around 50% alcohol by volume, and a shot of vodka is around 60% alcohol by volume.
Juice

American Style Shots
There are different types of shot glasses, but the three most common are: the rocks, highball, and lowball. The rocks are normally used to serve shots of alcohol that are less than 5% alcohol by volume. The rocks are usually smaller in size than a highball and lowball. The highball is typically used for drinks that have 5% to 10% alcohol by volume. The highball is typically a little larger than a rocks and is the most common shot served. The lowball is typically used for drinks that have 11% to 20% alcohol by volume. The lowball is typically a little smaller than a highball, making it a little smaller and less likely to spill when being picked up and held. These sizes vary by region, but typically a rocks or highball will be around one ounce. A lowball is typically around half an ounce.
