To become a Walgreens pharmacy tech, you must first pass the Walgreens Registered Pharmacy Technician exam. You must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED, or have earned a high school diploma and be in possession of a valid driver’s license. You must also be 21 or older. Then you must complete an associate’s degree at a community college, or a vocational high school training program. This associate’s degree may be in a pharmacy career, or in one of the following subjects: chemistry, criminal justice, law, health, human services, business administration or information technology. While this is the minimum education requirement to become a Walgreens pharmacy tech, employers are generally looking for applicants with a bachelor’s degree. This degree can be from a four-year college, or from a vocational school. You must then complete two years of on-the-job training. This usually involves some combination of on-the-job experience and educational training. You may also have to complete additional training related to your department.
