A few years ago, the minimum wage in the United States was $7.25 per hour. Today, it is $7.25 per hour. In January, President Trump signed an executive order to increase the minimum wage. The new minimum wage will be $10.10 per hour by the end of 2019. The federal minimum wage will be $7.25 per hour by 2024. The federal minimum wage will be $9.80 per hour by 2027. Some states are moving forward with their own minimum wage increases. California increased the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by 2018. Maryland will raise the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by 2020. Other states that have increased their minimum wages are: Oregon, Illinois, Washington, Hawaii, Connecticut, Minnesota, New York, and Massachusetts. Some companies have also increased their minimum wages in recent years. McDonald’s has plans to increase their wages for some of their employees from $10.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour by 2021.
