Finally, when it comes to pizza toppings, I prefer to go for simple. The goal is to go for toppings that complement the cheese and the sauce, but not overpower it.

The first pizza was supposedly invented in the Roman Empire, which was made using dough and cheese. Some historians think that the pizza we know of today was brought over to Italy by Romans, but there are other theories as well. One thing is for sure, pizza came to America in the 1920’s. At that time, pizza was actually referred to as pie. The term “pizza” came from Italian immigrants who were making pizza from leftover dough in the back of their pizzerias. Over time, the pies spread out to other areas of the country. Pizza is now a big part of American culture. The food business has produced a great number of celebrities, including John Denver, George W. Bush, and Tom Hanks.
