How to calculate how many grams
We all know the amount of something, but do we know the right measurement for the amount? Well, there are different ways to measure weight, depending on the type of object that you are trying to measure. But we are going to look at the most common method of measuring weight, which is in grams. One gram is equal to one hundredth of a pound, or one-thousandth of a kilogram.
How to calculate ounces
When using measuring cups, it can be helpful to know the amount of ounces in a cup. A standard cup has 16 ounces. To calculate the amount of ounces in a cup, simply divide the cup by 16. So, if you want to know how many grams are in a cup, divide the cup by 16, or multiply the cup by 0.5. For example, if you have a cup that holds 8 ounces, 8 divided by 16 equals 0.5, so there are 0.5 ounces in the cup. If the cup holds 9 ounces, 9 divided by 16 equals 0.5625, or 0.5 ounces and 5625 grams.

How Many Grams of Sugar?
A 12 oz (2 cup) serving of soda contains 120 calories and 6 grams of sugar. That’s over 25 percent of the daily value for sugar. A 12 oz (2 cup) serving of coffee contains 140 calories and contains over 11 grams of sugar, which is over 50 percent of the daily value for sugar. One Can vs 12 oz Sugar?
It’s easy to take sugar for granted. The sugar that you see in your cup of coffee or your tea is perfectly natural. But did you know that you’re actually consuming a product that has been subjected to one of the worst forms of animal cruelty? The sugar that you’re consuming is usually refined and purified. The process that occurs to extract the sugar from the cane or sugar beet is extremely wasteful and inhumane. Cane sugar is heated and broken down, which creates a concentrated syrup called molasses. This molasses is then purified, which requires the heating and stripping of the sugar from the molasses. A similar process happens to sugar beets, and requires even more energy than the sugar cane. This is why most of the sugar in the world is now extracted from beets. The amount of energy required to produce one kilogram of sugar from sugar beets is approximately ten times greater than that of sugar cane. So, when you’re munching on a granola bar that is loaded with sugar, think about what you’re really consuming. Is that 12 oz. of natural sugar? Or is it actually about 1,000 grams of beets?
