How to Cook Pork Butt

The pork butt is a big piece of meat that is cut from the shoulder of the pig. It can be anywhere from 15-21 pounds in weight. It’s typically stored in a refrigerated meat case at your local grocery store. Pork butt is extremely versatile and can be cooked in many different ways. I’m gonna share with you some of my favorite ways to cook pork butt. I start by preheating the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Then I salt and pepper the meat. I also season it with garlic powder and paprika. I then lay the pork butt in a disposable aluminum roasting pan and place it in the oven. After it’s been roasting for about 1 hour, I remove it from the oven and turn the oven to broil. I then take the pork butt out of the oven and flip it over. I broil it on the other side for another hour or so, until it reaches a finishing temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a perfect roast pork for sandwiches. Or you can cook the pork butt on a grill for a true barbecue flavor.
