The USDA and most of the large juice companies recommend that apples should be dehydrated for a minimum of 12 hours. However, I’ve dehydrated them as long as 24 hours. I’ve found that they’re at their peak flavor after 18 hours. The longer you dehydrate the apples, the less crisp they become.

When it comes to keeping your apples on the inside, a peeling knife is a good way to do it. You can place your fruit on a cutting board and slice it away from the core with a sharp, thin knife. The trick to peeling an apple is to keep the knife at the same angle throughout the process. After that, cut each apple in half, and then the halves in half again. You can then use your knife to remove all of the seeds and core, and then you’re left with little chips of apple. This is a good way to keep your fruit on the inside without the added calories and carbs from the skin.
