The pork can come from any part of the pig but all parts are good. When you are cooking Pulled Pork, the shoulder and the belly will be much fattier and the middle will be leaner than the ribs. The belly and shoulder is what will give you the most flavor and the leaner the belly the leaner the meat will be.
Pulled Pork
Pulled pork is a delicious and moist meat that is relatively inexpensive and easy to make. Pulled pork is often served on its own as a meal, or it can be cooked in different ways to make it into sandwiches, pulled pork barbecue, pulled pork chili, pulled pork tacos, pulled pork sliders, pulled pork meatballs, pulled pork nachos, and pulled pork burgers.
Season the pork
Seasoning food before you cook it is the most important step in the process. The amount of seasonings used depends on the meat being used. Here are some different ways to season your pork.
Prep the pork
Because of the amount of fat in pulled pork, it’s important to prepare the pork properly before cooking. If you follow these three simple steps, you will be able to create the pulled pork you want without a ton of extra work.
Cut the pork up
Use an instant-read thermometer to test the temperature of your pork. If it’s too hot, the pork will be dry when you pull it. If it’s too cold, it will be greasy. Once you’re sure it’s done, remove the meat from the cooker. Pull out the excess fat and rinse the pork under cold water. Pat it dry. The best way to store pulled pork is in the fridge. Let it rest at least 10 minutes before serving.
Cook the pork
A good way to cook pulled pork is to make a large batch, then pull pork sandwiches and store them in the fridge. You can pull pork sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. To make the pork, start by rubbing the pork with your favorite rub. Place the pork in the oven at 250 degrees F for 6 hours. Pull the pork from the oven when the internal temperature reaches 150 degrees F. Use two forks to pull the meat apart. For more information on how to cook pulled pork, visit our recipe page.
