How to use a meat thermometer
A meat thermometer is a tool used to help determine if meat is cooked to the correct temperature. Meat is prepared in a specific way to help prevent contamination and foodborne illness. This is done by cooking meat to a specific temperature. Once the meat reaches this temperature it is considered cooked. This prevents bacteria from multiplying and destroying the food. With a meat thermometer, you will be able to keep track of the temperature and can determine if your meat is cooked properly. In order to use a meat thermometer you will need to get a thermometer for each type of meat you are cooking.
Pressure
The number of minutes for pressure cooking depends on the size of the pressure cooker. You can use an online calculator to find out the number of minutes for your pressure cooker, if you don’t have one. For a 6 quart pressure cooker, the time will be 15 minutes. For a 10 quart pressure cooker, the time will be 25 minutes. In either case, the time will be reduced by about 15% if you heat the pot with the lid off before you cook.
How to measure and control the thickness
You need to cook pork loin to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. But, this means you need to know the approximate weight of the pork loin. Weigh the pork loin before cooking. Subtract the weight of the bones and fat, then divide that number by two to find the weight of a pound of meat. Divide this number by the temperature required to cook the pork loin. That is the amount of time the pork loin needs to cook.
