Combine 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup shortening, and 1 cup sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in 2 teaspoons vanilla. Add remaining milk, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed just until combined. Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls over rolls in the baking dish. Bake, uncovered, 25 minutes or until golden. Let cool in the dish on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
