There is a variety of different ways that you can use sculpey clay. You can make figurines, slinkies, dollhouse furniture, and even carvings. However, for this video, I wanted to show you how to make yourself a cup and saucer using sculpey clay.
Preparing Sculpey
The best way to prep the clay is by using the oven. You can use a commercial oven, or make one yourself. You’ll want to heat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, and have a baking sheet ready. This should take about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. After the clay has cooled, use an old toothbrush to smooth out any rough spots or bumps. The clay should be smooth to work with.
When Sculpey Is Done
Sculpey clay is a mixture of white modeling clay and sand or talcum powder. The clay is easily molded and has a low melting point. It can also be painted with acrylic paint. Sculpey is a non-toxic, smooth-surfaced, medium-priced clay. It is also a relatively inexpensive, very versatile material that can be used to create a variety of figurines, such as humans, animals, and vehicles. Sculpey does require a curing time after shaping. Because this clay is so easy to mold, the following process can take a few days to complete. After shaping, the clay is placed in a container and held in a warm area. Once it is warm, the clay is mixed with a wetting agent. The container is then closed and placed in a cooler area for the clay to dry. This will take anywhere from a few hours to several days. Once the clay is dry, it is ready to paint or craft.

How Long To Bake Sculpey
It is important to take the proper steps when working with Sculpey clay. This includes the oven setting, type of clay, tools, and most of all the amount of time it takes to bake the clay. For Sculpey, you can use the PVA glaze, but this is not required. There are two types of Sculpey. Moldable and non-moldable. The non-moldable will not harden unless it is heated. Moldable Sculpey will harden after it is made and is heated.
