We’ve all seen a fly in class. You can identify them by their large, hairy bodies and their thick antennae. Fly’s are not only interesting to look at, but they are very easy to handle and can be studied in an experiment. If you want to learn how a fly lives, you have to first understand the natural life cycle.
Fruit Fly and aging
In one study, researchers found that fruit flies live about one third as long as they do in the wild. This means that fruit flies are usually born in the wild at the beginning of summer and start dying in the middle of winter. The reason for this is that fruit flies have a short life span in the wild. This can be because they have to face tough circumstances such as trying to survive in cold or hot weather. But in the lab, researchers are able to keep fruit flies in constant conditions and have observed that they live for an average of about two weeks.
What are the daily needs of a fruit fly?
The life span of a fruit fly is about a month. They live in an environment that is at a constant 25 degrees Celsius. As the days go by, the fruit fly will grow and develop. As they age, they get slightly bigger and less able to fly. This is because the fruit fly is unable to eat as much food as before, and is unable to move around as much.
Fruit fly aging
Fruit flies are easy to observe, store and breed. The basic life cycle of a fruit fly includes mating, egg laying and development. You can breed the fruit flies in your house and watch them for a few days. Fruit flies are typically very short-lived, around seven to 10 days. They do not naturally live much longer than this. However, you can do a few things to increase their lifespan.
Nourishment
As mentioned above, fruit flies have a lifespan of around two weeks. This is because they don’t eat, and their bodies don’t metabolize waste. In comparison, humans generally live to about 80 years old. This is because we eat, metabolize waste and live a much longer life. However, our metabolisms and bodies tend to change over time. This is because of the natural process of aging, which leads to less efficient metabolisms.
Fruit flies
There are thousands of types of fruit flies, but the most common are the housefly and the yellow jacket. The housefly can fly up to 30 miles per hour, but the yellow jacket has a slower flight speed. The yellow jacket is able to fly up to 16 miles per hour. The yellow jacket is also much larger and heavier than the housefly. A fruit fly can live for about a month, but it typically lives for about 3 days. To learn more about how long fruit flies live, check out this page.
