What Is the Difference between Mold and Molding?
Many people make silicone molds without the proper tools. The silicone molding process is fairly simple and is usually done by following a few simple steps. However, you don’t need to know any specialized tools to make silicone molds. All you need to make your own silicone mold is: A small container, a big container, 2 bowls, 3 silicone molds, a silicone molding kit, and silicone molding liquid. The first step is to pour silicone molding liquid into the small container. This liquid has a specific ratio of silica to mineral oil. This ratio is specific to the molds you want to make and you need to follow the instructions that come with the silicone molding kit. This mixture must then be poured into the big container. Put the big container in the oven and heat the mixture to between 210 degrees and 230 degrees Fahrenheit. The next step is to add the mold to the big container. Add a bit of this mixture into the mold and use a spatula to spread it around. Then, let it cool in the big container. The last step is to take the mold out of the big container and use a utility knife to trim any excess silicone molding liquid around the mold. You are now ready to use the silicone mold.
