All meats should be cooked to 160 degrees F. If you want to cook meat, check the internal temperatures of all cuts. You can use the USDA Meat Inspection System to check for safe cooking temperatures. Most cuts should come out at 160ΒΊF, except for those that are rarer than others. This is a general guideline, not a hard and fast rule. Read the label carefully and follow the instructions. Do not use any product that says it kills bacteria. Always use products that say they kill bacteria when they do not. Even if the product says “Bacteria Kills,” it does nothing to prevent bacteria growth. Also, read the ingredients list.

If you add too little meat, there is no need for any additional heat, which means the flavour of what you are cooking is reduced. Also, if the mixture is left out for too long, even though it would be safe to cook it longer, eventually the fat will start to render and the taste will change. So, when you do decide to add meat (or anything else) to your meal, try to keep it low in fat and increase the amount of flavour you put into it. You can always add more if needed. Meat is a great source of protein, so don’t be afraid to go overboard.
