Chicken is very healthy. It is a good source of protein and low in fat. Additionally, it is also low in cholesterol. • 6 oz. = about a 2.5 ounce chicken breast
• 4 oz. = about a 2 ounce chicken breast
What Is the Unit of Measure For Chicken?
The USDA’s Food and Nutrient Database (FNDb) unit of measure for chicken is 4 ounces. This represents the weight of the chicken breasts or thighs. The number of units is determined by the number of chicken breasts or thighs. A standard package of chicken breast meat weighs about 2 pounds, or 907 grams. 1 pound of chicken is 4 ounces. One pound of chicken contains 3 pounds of breast meat, so 3 pounds of breast meat is 3 times the 4 ounces, or 1.08 kilograms. As you can see, there is a difference of 2.1 grams in the units. Since the weight of the breasts changes depending on the chicken’s age and size, the weight can also change by as much as 4 grams.
