If you keep meat in the refrigerator, it will usually stay good for about 7 to 10 days. You can add spices or herbs to the meat to help preserve it. You’ll want to clean your meat after 2 to 3 days, and you’ll want to discard any meat that smells off or isn’t easily sliced. You can keep meat in a bag or container in the freezer for up to 4 months. If you keep meat in the freezer, you’ll want to freeze it no more than 3 months before eating it. You can keep meat in the freezer by placing it in a resealable freezer bag. This can be frozen on a flat surface or on a wire rack. To properly defrost meat, you can put the bag in a pan of water or place it in the microwave.
How Steaks Age
In the process of aging, the steak will lose some of the moisture, which will make the steak drier. This will also allow the steak to hold more of the flavor of the steak. Once the steak has reached the desired level of dryness, it will be aged. At this point, the steak will be cooled down and pressed. This will allow it to be even more dry and flat. The steak will then be either wrapped or frozen. This will help to preserve the steak.
How to Hang or Store Beef Steaks
