When it comes to pizza, there is no arguing about who invented it first. Pizzeria da Michele is credited as the first pizza restaurant in the United States, opening in 1943. However, there is evidence to suggest that the Chinese invented pizza in the year 900 AD, and it was brought back to China by the traders of the time. In modern history, many think that the Romans invented pizza, but that’s hard to confirm. At any rate, pizza is a simple food that can be made at home in minutes. You can purchase pizza toppings in a grocery store, or even make your own. A pizza chef will prepare the dough, add toppings, and then bake the pizza in a hot oven.
Chinese Pizza
While Chinese Pizza is certainly not the same as Italian Pizza, the Chinese have been making pizza for a long time. According to the book The Story of Chinese Cooking, Chinese pizza was invented in the 9th century by Tuoba Qing, a princess of the Tuoba kingdom. The original Chinese Pizza was a flatbread made of wheat flour and water, and was first made in Luoyang. Tuoba Qing loved Chinese Pizza so much that she was instrumental in spreading it to the rest of China. There’s no real proof that Chinese pizza existed in the 9th century, but it has been popular in China ever since.

The origin of pizza is hotly contested. What is clear is that the first pizza was not invented by the Chinese. Many have argued that pizza was invented in Italy or even France. In fact, many people argue that the English word pizza originates from the Roman word pītā, which means pie. However, there is little historical evidence for this. In contrast, there is plenty of evidence that the Chinese invented the first truly pizza-like dish. The Chinese called this dish xiaolóng bīngzhāo, and it was traditionally made with a flatbread made from glutinous rice. In fact, the first documented reference to pizza was written in the Qing dynasty (1644-1912).
