This dish has been one of my favorite summertime dishes for years. However, pineapple itself isn’t an easy fruit to work with. This dish is more about the flavors than the texture, so it’s a great dish for anyone who likes an easy summertime recipe.

What Is Canning?

How To Can Pineapple

In the United States, the most popular kind of canned pineapple is the Bionaire brand. Bionaire is considered to be a higher quality pineapple, because of its high acid content. The acid content can protect the fruit from rotting. To make canned pineapple, wash the pineapple and put it in a pressure cooker. Put 1 cup of water and ½ cup of sugar in the pressure cooker and bring to a boil. Add the pineapple to the pressure cooker and put the lid on. Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for 30 minutes. Remove the can and let cool.

You’ll need to follow the canning instructions to ensure that the vegetables and fruit you’re storing in the canning jars is in a good state of preservation.
