What Is a Cashew
Cashews are another one of my favorites. I absolutely love cashews. They are full of protein and have almost no fat. Cashews are in the pecan family, which also includes macadamias. Cashews have a mild flavor and are a popular snack in the US, though they are traditionally eaten in parts of India. In my recipe, I’ve combined the two favorites of mine with some healthy ingredients.
Can Cashews Be Candied
With the recent national outrage over the huge rise in peanut allergies, cashews are becoming a trending food in the food industry. Today, cashews can be candied and dipped in chocolate, however this is not a new idea. In the past, cashews would be candied and then dipped in a sweet and tart pineapple juice. According to The Paula Deen Wiki: “In the 1970s, in New Orleans, cashews were candied, added to pineapple juice and served as a refreshing drink to tourists and convention attendees.” Some locals still like to dip their cashews in this pineapple juice, instead of chocolate, but it’s not a new idea.

One of the biggest reasons for allergies is due to eating the wrong foods. So, it is important to be careful and read labels. When shopping for foods, do not be afraid to ask questions. Ask what the ingredients are. While there is no harm in using natural flavors or additives, many people are allergic to these. Others may be allergic to nuts or certain preservatives. If you are allergic to certain foods, then you will want to be careful when choosing what to eat. Fortunately, there are options if you need to avoid certain ingredients. One way to avoid cashews is to not use them in a recipe. Instead, opt for coconut milk. Cashews can easily be substituted for the coconut milk in certain recipes, and you will still get the same flavor. Another way to avoid cashews is to switch up your recipes. When substituting foods in your diet, use similar ingredients. For example, if you are allergic to coconut milk, try using coconut oil instead.
