The type of instant pot you use is very important. In my experience, the best models for meat-based soups are the 6 and 8 quart models. For a recipe like this, it is a great idea to choose the 6 quart model. If you’re looking for more pressure, the 8 quart model will work just fine, but you’ll need to add a bit more liquid than I’m recommending for the 6 quart model. I chose the 12 quart model for this recipe because it includes a griddle, which will come in handy for cooking this thick soup. You’ll want to add all of the ingredients to your pot, and wait about 5-10 minutes for everything to come to pressure. Once this happens, press “Cancel”, release the pressure valve, open the lid, then turn the dial to 4 and set the time for 30 minutes. The pressure will automatically release when this time has passed, at which point it’s time to open the lid, turn off the cooker, and serve.
