If you’ve never air-fried fish before, it’s easy to be scared off, especially if you’re a novice to fish frying. However, with a little bit of preparation and careful technique, frying fish is a relatively easy thing to do. Even if you’re the first person to make it happen at home, you can do a decent job. So take a look at the following guide for some tips on air frying frozen fish.
Know What You Are Buying
Before you start cooking, you should first know what you’re buying. Depending on the type of fish you buy, it may be best to use a different cooking method. For example, frozen fish needs to be defrosted first before you cook. If you’re cooking seafood, make sure you buy the freshest seafood you can find. Keep in mind that seafood needs to be cooked for a short amount of time, and will not need to be defrosted first.
Tips for Air Frying
For air frying, the fish or chicken should be thawed. This will make the food easier to fry and ensure the food cooks more evenly. Fish can also be used frozen. To make a thawed piece of frozen fish air fry, place it in a microwave for 20-30 seconds. Once the fish is thawed, pat it dry with paper towel.
How to Cook Air-Fried Fish
While deep-fried is traditionally considered the way to go when cooking fish, you can actually cook it just as well in the oven. Air-fried fish is actually easier to cook than deep-fried, because it doesn’t require any oil. The other advantage to air-fried fish is that it doesn’t dry out the fish, as deep-fried fish can. Air-frying is often used for cooking lobster, shrimp, and other crustaceans, but it can be used with other seafood as well. It is important to note that fish should be thawed first. This means you can air-fry frozen fish as long as it is not frozen solid. The next step is to cut the fish into small pieces. It is important to make sure you buy frozen fish that is already skinned and cut. Fish that is not already skinned will need to be skinned before you cook it. Once the fish is cut, put it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet. Once the fish is in the dish, put the baking dish in a 400 degree oven for about ten minutes. A good rule of thumb is to put a piece of fish in the oven for about five minutes longer than the time stated on the packaging of the fish. Air-fried fish does not require any oil, so you do not need to add any to the baking dish to prevent the fish from drying out.
How to Freeze Fish
Fish can be frozen without any problems. However, most people don’t know what to do with frozen fish. If you’re wondering whether or not you can freeze fish, here’s what you need to know.
How to Thaw Fish
When you buy fresh, frozen fish, it will usually be packaged with ice. You should let the fish thaw completely in the refrigerator. You can thaw fish in the freezer. For thawing, just place the fish in a bowl that has been half-filled with water. Just keep adding more water to the bowl until the fish is completely thawed.
