Who has not heard that “a man is conquered by the stomach”? It is one of those sayings that, whether or not they are true, are rooted in our popular knowledge. This dessert follows this idea to the letter. It is a coconut cake originating in Brazilian gastronomy that receives the name of cake “catches husbands”.
The recipe for this cake is a classic in the kitchen of the brazilian grannies. Its flavor and texture make it the perfect dessert to conquer your family, friends, partner or other loved ones, hence its curious name. Made of coconut and condensed milk, has a creamy glaze that gives it a spectacular texture. Also, it is quite easy to prepare. Here we leave you step by step.
Cake “catches husbands”
Ingredients
1 cup of milk
1 cup of condensed milk
1 cup of flour
3 eggs
1/2 cup of sugar
2 cups of coconut milk
1 and 1/2 grated coconut
Elaboration
Preheat the oven to 170 °C. Grease a mold with butter and flour it.
Place the milk, coconut milk, condensed milk, sugar, flour and eggs in a blender glass. We beat very well until we obtain a homogeneous cream.
Pour into the pan and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and dry.
When we have removed it from the oven, we let it cool for 20 minutes and, later, we unmold it.
While we wait, we prepare the glaze. Place the coconut milk in a pot with a cup of grated coconut (reserving the rest) and the sugar. We take the pot over medium heat so that it heats up while constantly stirring with a wooden spoon. Remove and let cool.
Pour the coconut glaze over the cake and sprinkle with some of the reserved grated coconut.
Chill in the fridge until serving time.
