When we talk about the fruits of the vegetable kingdom, we’re talking about the edible, single-seeded fruits of plants. This includes things like apples, oranges, and pears. In contrast, the “vegetable kingdom” refers to the many types of leafy and root vegetables that we commonly eat. The leaves of a plant may be a part of the plant’s reproductive process, but they do not contain seeds. Plantains, bananas, and potatoes are all examples of foods that are in the vegetable kingdom.
