Recently I’ve seen many articles, blogs, and tweets saying that cake should be refrigerated. I also saw a few debates about this on Twitter. So I thought I’d try to clear this up once and for all.
What are Cupcakes?
Cupcakes are a type of cake that are smaller and contain a sweet filling. This is usually chocolate. Cupcakes are often eaten for dessert, or to celebrate occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. They can also be used as an alternative to cookies or brownies in a baking recipe. They are usually baked in a pan, although they can also be baked in cupcake molds or baking dishes.
How to Store Cupcakes for Longer?
Do cupcakes need to be refrigerated?
I always refrigerate my cupcakes but I do not have a lot of time to make and bake them. I use a method like others: I put cupcakes in the freezer for several hours.
The Benefits of Freezing Cupcakes
There are many benefits of freezing cupcakes. The main benefit is that it helps to preserve the cupcakes. Another benefit of freezing cupcakes is that it makes it easier to transport them to an event. When frozen cupcakes are thawed, the icing can be spread evenly. Thawing cupcakes also takes less time, since there’s less moisture in the icing. It’s also a good idea to freeze cupcakes in cups so they don’t roll around when thawing.
Do Cupcakes Need to be Refrigerated?
I like to make cupcakes for birthdays or other occasions, but when I make them I have to refrigerate them overnight. Why? This is because the cupcakes mix a bit in the oven and when the oven cools down, the oven itself will turn down the oven temperature, causing the cupcakes to over-expand.
How to Freeze Cupcakes
Frozen cupcakes can be kept for up to a month. The secret is freezing your cupcakes at a very low temperature. Frozen cupcakes are best when they are cold and soft. Let the cupcakes sit at room temperature for a few minutes before cutting into them to make sure they are not still too frozen. Most freezing cupcakes recipes call for frosting. For this reason, frosted cupcakes don’t need to be frozen. Once your cupcakes are frozen, you can store them in a freezer bag to keep them fresh.
