What Shallots Do?
Shallots are a root vegetable of the onion family. They are often added to dishes to add a little onion flavor to soups and stews. However, you can also use shallots as a pantry staple. Shallots are typically stored in an airtight container, so they don’t need to be refrigerated. They also don’t have a strong odor, so they don’t overpower foods like onions. Shallots can also be used as a replacement for onions in recipes. You can use shallots instead of onions in just about any dish. You can also use shallots in place of garlic. The flavor of shallots is similar to garlic in many dishes. They are also less strong than garlic and are less likely to overpower your food.
