Remove or Dispose of Existing Elf
if you have an elf in the room, then you probably know that it can be hard to start. Our popular nativity scene has elves and you might not like the elfs. But why bother getting rid of the elf if the idea of starting is intimidating? Well, you don’t have to worry about getting rid of the elf. I found a nice video explaining how to start the elf. The video can be found here. I know I enjoyed watching it, and I think you will too. This elf starts on the windowsill. What if you don’t have any windowsills? You can also start the elf in your bathroom sink or kitchen sink. You can either start it in the toilet or on the counter. If you don’t have an elfin looking candle you can also use this elf.
Prep the House
If you have a bit of space in your child’s room, there are a few things you can do to make it look nicer and provide a sense of security. Make sure to cover the walls and ceiling with blackout curtains and board up any open windows to help block out light and noise from outside. Once the room is prepared, you’ll want to make sure the child has a place to sleep. The best sleeping position is on their side in a wedge shape, with their head close to the wall. A soft pillow should be on their stomach, which will help prevent them from rolling over. If they are old enough, you can teach them to use a wedge pillow to help them sleep on their side.

Add the Elf’s Stuff
First, take your Elf’s box, and get some small bags of things to put in it. It should be a cute but unidentifiable bag that’s big enough to hold your gift. Try to find cute but unidentifiable bags at the Dollar Tree or Target. The best one to use is the red bags. I made these out of white bedding, because I couldn’t find any at Target. I could have used fabric or felt, but I thought the color would be easier to find.
Place the Elf
In most houses, the Elf on the Shelf is placed in the kids’ room. This is a wonderful way to boost their spirits and motivate them to make positive changes. But where can you place an Elf? The most common place is behind the kid’s desk, but there are other places you can place an Elf. Place the elf on a shelf at the top of a closet. This is a great place to hide the Elf, as the kids probably won’t go in there. You can also place it inside a basket or box. But be careful to not put it near any electronics, like a computer or phone. You also want to avoid placing the Elf inside drawers. This is because the kids may pull them out and destroy your things. Place the Elf inside a corner of a room, inside a bookshelf, or even under the kids’ bed. Some parents have even placed the Elf behind a wardrobe or in the closet.
