However, these are also important in breaking down waste material in the intestines. While this is happening, air passes through the digestive tract, which can leave the person feeling a bit bloated. A lack of adequate air intake during digestion can lead to a number of digestive issues including belching and flatulence.

It’s normal for your stomach acids to be full of gas and saliva. You don’t necessarily need to burp to pass gas, but belching may happen when gas goes up your esophagus. Another way to describe belching is to compare it to a burp. A burp is when air comes out of your mouth. Belching is a burp with contents that come out of your mouth. Also, belching can be described as a way of saying “I am glad I am not a coffee table”.
