You can also see the difference between the various kinds. For example, some kinds are milder than others.
How do you know if shrimp went bad?
The most efficient method would be to sniff and inspect the seafood, which should reveal a sour smell, bad color and slimey consistency. Discard any seafood with such symptoms. How can you tell if shrimp are frostbitten?
If your fish has no white bits or anything unusual on top while being frozen, this is a sure sign of freezer burn. This is usually caused when the fish is overfrozen and the water inside the container is too cold. If you see white areas on your seafood, you should immediately take it out of your freezer and let it come to room temperature. You can also try to cook it in boiling water until it turns pink. Once it reaches room temp, remove it from the pot and put it back in your fridge. After a few hours, check the shrimp again and see if it looks normal.
