Ramen noodles, or more formally called Japanese noodles, are quite common in Japan and other Asian countries. They are often sold as ramen (meaning ラーメン), an abbreviation of “ready-made” noodles. And while they are often served as a side dish, they can be enjoyed as a main meal in the absence of rice or noodles. People in Japan sometimes season the noodles before consuming them, as part of a “noodle menu.” Although many people in the United States might not be as familiar with this culinary trend, it is still a very common practice in Japan.

How To Season Ramen Noodles
Seasoning is the process of adding flavor to your food. When preparing food, it is important to take the time to season it properly. You want your food to taste the best it can. Food without seasoning can taste bland, can end up tough, and has the potential to cause stomach upset. In the case of ramen noodles, it is important to season them properly to get the full benefit of this unique food. Ramen noodles are made from a combination of noodles and a flavor powder called “tamari”. Tamari is usually sold as a powder that can be added to water to make a thick, salty broth. To season ramen noodles, you need to add the tamari to your noodles and let them sit together for about a minute or two. Then, add the ramen noodles to the broth and cook them. While cooking, the noodles soak up the broth to get the full flavor. When cooking the noodles, make sure to stir them regularly to make sure they don’t stick together.
