If you’re looking to add muscle or lose weight, you don’t need a fancy gym membership to get fit. The key to improving your overall health and fitness is a high metabolism. Metabolism is how the body breaks down food to produce energy. The type of calories we eat is what ultimately determines the amount of energy our body produces. Many people think that they have a high metabolism simply because they eat healthy. But a healthy diet and lifestyle are only part of the equation. If you’re interested in getting a handle on your metabolism, you need to take a closer look at your everyday lifestyle.
What Are Some Foods that Help a Person With a Fast Metabolism?
When it comes to having a fast metabolism, some foods can actually help you. Fruits are a great example. Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are all high in antioxidants. Antioxidants can help to cleanse the body of harmful toxins.
Know Your Age
If you’re a woman, chances are, you know your age. But did you know that just like women, men experience aging differently? Men’s hormones and behaviors change as they age. But while they don’t have a specific age they start changing, they don’t notice until their hormones and behaviors are already changing. When men hit age 50, they experience the beginning of menopause. It’s important to be aware of this. Researchers are also finding that men over 50 are getting more heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Also, men may start losing their memory more often as they age. So, while you’re not the same age as your female partner, you might start experiencing some of the same changes. As a result, you should start thinking about what your lifestyle choices might be. You’ll want to keep a close eye on your health as you age.
Know Your Waist Size
What is your waist size? Whether you’re trying to lose weight or just want to know how healthy you are, knowing your waist size can give you a good indication of how healthy you are. The best way to measure your waist is to stand straight and wrap a tape measure around your waist, making sure to keep it tight. Measure it at the level of your belly button, not on your hips. If you have a lot of fat on your stomach, then you probably have a higher waist size.
Know Your BMI
There are two different ways to calculate your body mass index. The first is to divide your weight in kilograms by your height in meters. The second is to divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches. If you have a healthy weight range, a BMI of 18.5 or lower is considered normal. If your BMI is between 25 and 29, you have a healthy weight, and if your BMI is between 30 and 39, you are overweight. If your BMI is between 40 and 50, you are obese.
