Use a small chef‘s knife to chop the roots and tops of green onion slices. Place the sliced green vegetables on a plate and arrange them in concentric circles. Slice the greens using the circular motions with the chef ‘ s knife while keeping the blade parallel to itself. Use the knife angled at 45 degrees to slice the leaves. Green & white scallion: Both the green and white parts of scallion are edible. There is a mild flavor and makes an attractive garnish. However, there is no sharp taste and when cooked, this scollard is used to make a stirfry dish. Scallium is an herbaceous plant that grows in temperate climates. Its leaves are used medicinally and as an antiseptic. This is why it has a reputation for being a cure for many ailments. As such, scolios are usually cooked before serving. Some people believe that scoliards are best when they are cooked until they turn golden brown. For this reason, cooks prefer to cook them lightly.
