Marinating steaks is one of my favorite ways to prepare salmon, but steaks come with their own skin. Unfortunately, the salmon skin can get really tough and chewy after marinating and cooking. Luckily, I have a solution for you. This method uses bacon as an alternative marinade for the steaks. The bacon will soak up all of the marinade, leaving your salmon steaks nice and juicy, with crispy bacon skin. This recipe can easily be made gluten-free.
How to prepare salmon steaks
Salmon is one of the most nutritious foods available. But many people are intimidated by cooking salmon. Plus, salmon is often served with skin, which can be hard to eat. Fortunately, there are a few ways you can cook salmon easily and enjoy all of its benefits. The first step is to prepare the salmon. To do this, cut the salmon steaks in half and put in a pan with a splash of oil. Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Cook the steaks over a medium-high heat until the oil just begins to smoke. Then reduce the heat to medium and cook the steaks for another three minutes. Remove the salmon from the pan and set aside.
Cooking Salmon Steaks
If you’ve never cooked salmon before, it can be a bit intimidating. This is especially true if you’re a beginner cook. But salmon steaks are actually quite easy to prepare, and the fresh, sweet flavor of salmon is well worth the effort. First, you’ll need a fillet of salmon, which should be between 2 and 3 pounds. Then, you’ll need to chop up some of your favorite herbs and spices. Preferably, you’ll want a blend of fresh herbs, such as basil, cilantro, parsley, and dill. You could also add a tablespoon of cayenne pepper. If you want to add some flavor to the salmon itself, you could add some fresh garlic. Now, if you’re going to use garlic, you’ll need to roast some of it beforehand. The best way to do this is in the oven. You’ll need to cut up the garlic and place it on a baking sheet. If you want, you can also sprinkle on some coarse salt. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and place the baking sheet inside. Bake the garlic for 10 minutes, and then remove it from the oven. If you want, you can also brush the salmon with olive oil. Next, you’ll want to place the salmon on a piece of aluminum foil, and then add a generous amount of salt and pepper to the top of it.
How to cook salmon steaks with skin
Salmon steaks with skin are one of my favorite fish. They’re easy to cook and they add that extra flair. My way of cooking salmon steaks is to sear them in a skillet with olive oil and a bit of salt until they’re browned, then I finish the cooking in the oven. To give the steaks a taste of orange and lime, I toss in a bit of juice.
