Do black lentils need to be soaked?
If you are using black beans, soak them overnight before cooking. If using brown lentil, cook them until tender, add water and cover. Then drain and rinse. Do not soak black peas. They should be cooked separately. You can cook black split peas in boiling water for 5 minutes, drain, cool, peel, chop and add to soup. Add salt to taste. For white lentiles, boil them in water until soft, strain, mash, mix with water (about 1/4 cup) and season with salt.

Are black lentils Keto friendly?
Although they are richly packed with fiber and protein, their high amount of net carbohydrates makes them hard to follow a KOT diet without having to reduce their carb intake. However, there are exceptions to this rule. For example, black bean lentil soup is a great way to get your daily fiber intake while keeping your carb consumption low. Another option is to add a few tablespoons of cooked black beans to your morning oatmeal. You can even add some chopped avocado to make a delicious salad dressing.
