How To Cook A Whole Chicken
Cooking a whole chicken can be intimidating, especially if you haven’t done it before. But it doesn’t have to be a scary task. All you need is to have a good understanding of how to cook a whole chicken. Not only is it a relatively easy process, but it’s also economical, healthy, and a quick meal. It can be divided into three stages: roasting, baking, and stewing. Roasting is the first stage of cooking. You can roast a chicken either on the stove top or in the oven. To roast a chicken on the stove top, you need to preheat the oven, which is going to take at least 30 minutes. Roasting usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes for a large chicken, depending on the size and weight. One of the advantages of roasting is the ability to baste the chicken with fat as it roasts. Basting allows you to add flavor and moisture to the chicken, as well as give you a crispy skin. For a large chicken, you’re going to need a roasting rack. This keeps the chicken off the base of the pan, allowing you to easily rotate the chicken without flipping it over. To keep the chicken upright, you’ll also need to put a whole chicken on a large piece of aluminum foil. Next, put a roasting pan or rack in the oven and pour in enough fat to cover the bottom of the pan. Make sure to add
Chicken Breast
Cook the young whole chicken breast at 200-250 degrees for at least one hour. The internal temperature should read 165 degrees. Cool the breast in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, and then cut into 1/2 inch strips. Bake the chicken strips in a 375 degree oven for about 10 minutes.
Roast Chicken Parts
I am going to be honest here, cooking a whole chicken sounds intimidating to me. There are many different parts to a chicken, and each part has a different cooking method. This is also why I tend to lean towards buying my chicken breasts, because of how much easier it is to prepare. Chicken breast can be easily cooked in a pan, and can also be sliced and served on a sandwich. Chicken thighs are another good option, and can be cooked with a baking pan, in the oven, or in a slow cooker. But I will be focusing on the breast for now.
