Cooking an entire pork roast is a bit of a project. Even after marinating overnight, and being in the fridge, the meat can still be a bit chewy if not seared first. But there are ways to achieve this exact texture.
How to cook a pork roast
You will need:
An 18.5-ounce jar of barbecue sauce
An 8-pound pork roast
An 8-inch square aluminum pan
Pat the roast dry with paper towels. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Set the roast in the pan and pour half of the barbecue sauce over the top of the roast. Bake until a thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the roast reads 160 degrees F, 2 to 3 hours. Remove the roast from the oven and place the pan on a wire rack to cool for 30 minutes. Use the paper towels to lift the roast from the bottom of the pan. Cover the roast with the remaining barbecue sauce. Cover with foil and let the roast sit at room temperature for 1 hour. Cut into 2-inch slices. Return the slices to the pan and cover with foil. Place in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake until heated through and the barbecue sauce is bubbling, about 15 minutes.
The Method of Cooking
Boneless pork roasts are not difficult to cook, but they can be tricky to cook perfectly. For one, they tend to dry out more easily than thicker cuts, so they need to be watched closely to avoid drying out too much. Once they are properly cooked, boneless pork roasts are quite tasty. The bone is usually removed while the roast is still relatively young. This is done by either boning the roast or using a special machine to remove the bone.
How Do You Know When A Pork Roast Is Done?
The good news is that most cuts of meat, from beef to pork, can be cooked this way. The trick is to make sure you’re cooking it at a low temperature. For a boneless pork roast, you can cook it at 325°F for about 20 minutes per pound. For a bone-in pork roast, cook it at 325°F for about 30 minutes per pound.
How To Make a Pork Roast Supper
First, you need to marinate the pork roast overnight. You can either marinate the pork roast in some of the sauce from the first recipe or just in the sauce itself. Preferably marinate it in both. Next, you need to put it into the oven to cook. Bake it for 1 hour at about 220°F, then reduce the temperature to 180°F and cook it for an additional 2-3 hours.
