The Instant Pot is an amazing appliance that cooks from the bottom up. It is a great multi-cooker that can do everything from sautéing onions to pressure cooking lamb. It is great for food preservation because its seal creates an environment that kills the bacteria that causes food poisoning.
How to Clean the Instant Pot Heating Element
Cleaning the heating element on your Instant Pot can be a challenge. The element is behind the lid, so you can’t get to it directly. Most of the cleaning products on the market are too abrasive and will scratch the surface of the element. However, there is a method that will not damage the element, nor make it difficult to clean: baking soda. Here’s how to clean the heating element on your Instant Pot.
How to Clean a Heated Water Element in a Crockpot
Here are the steps to clean a heated water element in a crockpot. The first thing to do is to turn the crockpot off. The element is connected to a heating element that becomes hot. If this isn’t cleaned properly, it can become damaged and break. Once the crockpot has cooled down, pull the heated element out. Rinse it under running water to remove any gunk. Allow it to dry completely before putting it back into the crockpot.
Instant Pot Cleaning
These heating elements do not get extremely dirty, but if they get covered with too much residue, you can have issues. If you notice that your food is not coming out properly, this can be because of the heating element.
How to Clean Heating Element
The instant pot was invented in 1977 and has been continuously improved since then. With great power comes great responsibility, and when it comes to your instant pot, that is particularly true. Unfortunately, it is pretty easy to get burned by your instant pot. Most major manufacturers of the instant pot have a set of tips and tricks for cleaning the heating element in your instant pot. Many of them include the following:
Clean your glass lid.
Use a dry sponge to clean the area around the heating element.
Rinse your instant pot with water.
Soak the heating element with warm water for at least 30 minutes.
Now that you have cleaned your instant pot, what do you do with the filter? Yes, most of the time you don’t use it, but you might want to use it later, so it is a good idea to keep it in a safe place. Remember to rinse the filter when you first use it because you don’t want to reuse a dirty filter.
Steam Cleaning
So you want to clean your instant pot, what do you do? Well, there are a few things you can do. The first thing you can do is to make sure your instant pot is free of any build-up of seasoning or coffee grounds. Remove the lid and pour in some water, along with a paper towel. Put the lid back on the instant pot and then flip it over to release the steam. Do not let the lid touch the pot. Once the lid is off, leave the lid by the side. A paper towel should be sitting by the lid. Place the instant pot in the oven, on a rack, for about 30 minutes. Take the paper towel out and wipe out the inside of the instant pot. If you are cleaning the outside of the instant pot, simply wipe it out with a wet rag or sponge. Do not use a dishwashing liquid or soap! Replace the lid of your instant pot, wait for it to cool, and then store it. Now the instant pot is clean.
