How to lock user input in Java
I have an application where the user is presented with a list of numbers, and the program will take each number, perform a math operation on it, and then display the result back to the user.
The problem is that the user can enter an invalid number, and the program will take the invalid number, try to compute the math operation, and then continue on to display the wrong result.
So, I’d like to be able to lock the user from entering invalid numbers, and instead, force the program to just return an error if the number entered is invalid.
I’ve done some research into this, and it seems like the only way to do this is to make a custom JFrame, and in the JFrame’s constructor, lock the text in the JTextFields.
I’m afraid though, that this is a fairly bad solution, and that I might be using the wrong approach. So, does anyone have any suggestions?
A:
