Cooking with pressure in pressure cooked food takes only a few minutes. Pressure cooking is a quick and easy way to cook food without using any heat. You can cook foods such as meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, potatoes, pasta, rice, beans, grains, etc. in less than 10 minutes! Pressure cooking uses high pressure (pressure over 100 psi) to create a vacuum inside a pot to kill bacteria and prevent food from spoiling. This is done by creating a partial vacuum within the container. When the food is placed in this vacuum, gas pressure builds up in order to force the contents out. Food is cooked when the internal pressure of all the ingredients reaches the desired level. Cooking times depend on how fast the recipe calls for it. For example, pressure cooking can take between 5 and 15 minutes depending on what you are cooking.

Can you overcook pork in a pressure cooker?
Sadly, when you cook pork over high heat, you’ll end with dry and crunchless fibers. Pressure cooking will not change this fact. After 30 mins, check the internal temperature of your pork and cook it for another 30 min at low pressure (just enough to get the juices flowing). The pressure cooked pork will be dryer than the uncooked pork, which means you’re going against the grain. But it should still be delicious. And if all else fails, just throw it in your slow cooker.
