Fibrocystic breast disease (fibrocystic breast disease is a common condition affecting the breasts in which small cysts can form on the lining of the breast. These are usually harmless, but sometimes they can be painful. They can also get bigger and cause more discomfort or cause problems with breastfeeding. These cysts may grow and eventually, burst. This means that they can contain fluid and, at this point, this can cause discomfort or even pain.
Who Is More Likely to Develop Breast Cancer?
While there are several risk factors for breast cancer, those with fibrocystic breast disease are at a higher risk than those without it. Both fibrocystic breast disease and breast cancer are lumpy, soft, and tender. Breast tissue grows at a different pace in women with fibrocystic breast disease than it does in women with cancer.
