We all know that people love pizza. From the moment you wake up, to the time you go to bed, pizza is a common and sought after staple of a balanced diet. Most people know pizza and its variety of toppings, but do you know about the history of the most classic pizza? When did the first pizza hit the United States and when did we start eating it for breakfast? Today, we’ll dive into the history of pizza and the people who invented it.
Pizza Hut
Since 1950, Pizza Hut has been selling pizza. And they have been making pizza for over 150 years. But they don’t just sell pizza. Today, they sell pizza, wings, salads, pasta and many other foods and beverages. And they use technology to connect with people. In fact, they are among the first fast-food chains to have a loyalty program. The program lets customers earn points for certain purchases, and get rewarded with free items, coupons and more. And to top it all off, in just the past few years, they have been testing an AI-powered feature called “Farebot,” that lets customers order food for themselves.
Restaurants
Pizzeria Uno, run by two brothers from Queens, N.Y. — Frank and John Lakis — has been selling slices on the subway for 28 years. The first slice was sold at 42nd St. and Broadway in Manhattan on May 24, 1985. The brothers were given a one-month trial by the MTA. Over the years, they expanded their business and had become a major player in New York City’s pizza market. Pizzeria Uno now has more than 1,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Pizzeria Uno originated the traditional New York-style pizza crust and maintains its A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Pizza deli
Some cities have a pizza deli. These are stores that serve pizza and deliver it directly to your door. This can be a great alternative to pizza delivery. You can go to a store instead of relying on an anonymous delivery driver to bring you a pizza, and you don’t need to wait for someone to bring it to you. These stores also typically have a wider variety of pizza. But, of course, there are many benefits to delivery services. They make ordering pizza and having it delivered much easier. Plus, you don’t have to make any trips to pick up the pizza yourself. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of different types of pizza and have it delivered right to your door. If you’re lucky, you can even have the pizza cooked right in the store for you. Some delivery services even have cooking stations where you can choose between different types of pizza.
Vending machines
You know what vending machines are; they are those machines that sell drinks and snacks. Yes, those vending machines in the subway stations. Turns out, the famous Subway sells pizza. What’s more, they do it very well. Pizza is a great meal for the Subway locations. Subway doesn’t have to stock a full menu. Pizza, sandwiches, and salads are all there. If you are hungry, the Subway near you probably has a vending machine that sells pizza.
Domino’s Pizza
If you’re looking to buy Domino’s Pizza in NYC and have not heard of it, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. One of the most famous pizza chains in the world, Domino’s Pizza is famous for its pies, but it has a lot more to offer than just delicious pizza. This is a must-have for any subway traveler, as this pizza is highly recommended by many food critics and bloggers. What is even more amazing about this pizza is that not only is it delicious, but it also comes with a number of different toppings.
