Authentic tacos come in many different sizes and shapes, but are all known for their use of corn tortillas. These “tacos” are a staple food item for many across the globe, and they are even one of the five main food groups in Mexico. The best part about these tacos is that they are always made fresh and flavorful, so that they retain their fresh taste as they are served.
Store and Prepare the Ingredients
When making your own authentic mexican street tacos recipe, be sure to first prepare the ingredients. This is the most important part of the recipe, so make sure that everything is prepared properly. Once the ingredients are ready, it’s time to begin cooking. Be sure to use a nonstick surface, such as a metal skillet or cast iron pan, for this part of the recipe. When cooking the taco meat, be sure to use a heavy pot or a pot made of nonstick material. You’ll also want to cook the corn tortillas slowly to avoid burning. When cooking the beef, start on medium heat and turn the heat down once the meat begins to sizzle. Cooking the beef for a long time will make it dry. If you can’t find a steak that is tender enough, use ground beef and let it cook on low heat. Once the beef is cooked to your liking, you’re ready to assemble your tacos.
Put Toppings on Corn Tortillas
Most of the time the tacos in our area are rolled in flour or corn tortillas. You know what those taste like. We are going to show you how to make tacos a little different.
Put Corn Tortillas in the Fridge or Freezer
Here is a great recipe that will help you make authentic Mexican street tacos at home. Use the tortillas that you buy from your local grocery store. Then, try putting them in the refrigerator for about a week. They’ll become hard and it will be easier to roll them out.
Buy Toppings
As you can see, I’ve included a wide variety of ingredients in this recipe. Most of these are common toppings for street tacos. If you want to try a different taco recipe, then you can experiment with different toppings. I recommend trying to find ingredients that have been locally grown and produced in California. If you can find these ingredients, then it’s a win-win!
Buy Corn Tortillas
I live in Texas, so I love Mexican food. I use to go to taco joints in college where the tacos would be a couple dollars and you could get tacos and quesadillas. But then the price went up, and I didn’t like it. So, I started making my own tacos. I wasn’t sure what I was doing, but I wanted to try something different.
